This cake would taste delicious topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. When you don’t have time to make a chocolate cake, this recipe is the perfect stand in.
Ingredients

2 cups all purpose flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 cup white sugar + ¾ cup white sugar

½ cup cocoa powder + ¼ cup cocoa powder

1 teaspoon salt
-
1 can evaporated milk
-
½ cup melted butter
-
2 teaspoon vanilla
-
¾ brown sugar
-
2 ½ cups boiling water
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease baking dish with oil spray or butter.
Boil water in a kettle or on your stove top while preparing the remaining ingredients.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cocoa powder and salt.
Stir in evaporated milk, butter, and vanilla, until cake batter is well combined. Spread the cake batter into the prepared pan.
Mix together additional sugars and cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the cake batter.
Pour 2 ½ cups boiling water into the baking dish. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
Serve cake on its own or topped with ice cream.
